This Is Me
"Don't judge a book by it's cover" they say
Look through the telling pages
Taking the time is the only way
On my cover it may say "Reserved And Meek"
But inside you'll read;
Thrills and laughter is what I seek
Adventures and sightseeing
Openminded to things that
Others aren't believing
People have said I'm an "old soul"
And if it continues with age
Then I guess I'm on a roll
Speaking up for animals is how my life is spent
Hoping to get them more years
Than this human race would have lent
My voice is bigger that strangers may think
Because volume is nothing
When passion is in ink
These words are shared in many ways
Through the pains of sorrow
Or a wicked sense of humor on any days
Writings of this book are simply a part
Read between the lines
And you may see I'm a goth at heart
Maybe I'm here to surprise you
Maybe with a good ol prank
Or while walking my [sweet] pit bull
When it's dark and dank
All in all, I'd like people to see
That judgements may be the opposite
Of who we truly may be

A Poem For Women
When you were thirteen
Maybe part of growing up
Meant wearing make-up, you thought
We'd been taught
That being a woman meant hiding that skin
But I believe
Part of growing up
Means standing up for who you are
Instead
Though the vast world of people and media
Are tossing oppinions at us
Trying to cloud our minds
With who we should be,
Don't let them ever
Make you feel like your skin shouldn't be seen
Do what you want to
When you want to
Wearing make-up or not
You should be allowed to
Be a professional or anything you'd like
Without feeling like you must cover your face
To create a certain look
If they were to ever question you
Or try to shame you
For showing yourself
As the perfect way you were born
Then I hope you would be strong
Like a woman who is growing up
Even more than before
People who truly and wholey care
About you in your entirety
Want you to be yourself
Whoever and however you are
I wish I could erase
All the negative things
That we've been told and witnessed
Throughout the length of our years
Also through the centuries
That may have stunted us
But as long as we are aware
Of things that are actually hurtful
Then we can always move forward

In My Room
I was laying by my opened window
As I awoke this morning
With unopened eyes
I realized
My bedroom's atmostphere was no longer ordinary
It had transformed
My senses had been captivated
By the pouring rain
While it was composing the collective sounds
Of the drops falling onto each and every little thing
Filling my bedroom with magic, comfort, and peace,
As if it had become a special sanctuary
And I kept my eyes closed cherishing

AUTUMN
Autumn, I welcome her into my heart again
And embrace her old familiar spirit that I knew so well
Her care, her music, her perfume, her connection to me
As a devoted friend and lover would
Even though she had long-been distant
For a year ago she faded from this place of ours
Like she had no choice but to surrender
When it was time her spirit was called over seas
And when she left, this place became cold
But, she could not stay away from me forever
Autumn, now you tell me many stories you've longed to share
Of your past season away
How your nature had changed beautifully
As your tree branches and plants' leaves reached out
And how the earth had touched you in return
In many different ways
And you tell me how you grew
In the unexpected snow, heat, pouring rain
While you took care to provide for the animals and people
In turn nurturing yourself, your truth in your spirit
And now I open my window too
But to let in your breath of the night air
In the silence I hear everything in every part of you
As you are affecting wherever your wind blows
And I am affected deeply too
Inside my soul and on my skin
As I emerge from my self
And into the unique spirit of you Autumn.
