This list is so long that I put it in alphabetical order. Untitled poems are at the end.
ABOUT EMPATHY
Empathy can tell you everything about someone sometimes,
It can tell you the story of someone’s life,
Why they are how they are,
In empathy sometimes we are speechless,
And within their silence it can tell you everything,
Sometimes words couldn’t amount.
Empathy can show you what is precious,
Like how valuable an animal’s life is to them,
It will tell you if an animal is comfortable or not,
Or if you’re doing the right thing, or ignoring it.
Empathy can move people to change the lives of the deprived,
And save lives,
Empathy doesn’t always have to be a sad thing, because you can change their life into something beautiful.
When empathy reflects off of each other, it can make a connection between us, even across the world, and it can bring us together,
It can rebuild forgotten love where it has faded,
Empathy could be the first step towards changing the world.

A Lasting Relationship
They didn’t rely on the other person to make themselves happy-
They didn’t need someone else’s love,
Because they accepted themselves,
And because they were so full of love and enjoyed giving it out to others freely,
They had enough love already.
Because she knew that he could love so many other imperfect people,
She knew that his love was true and real.
And he knew the same thing about her.
They accepted each other for who they are,
Not expecting something else.
They had a support-
When he fell apart, she would pick him up,
And when she fell apart, he would pick her up,
They both respected each other,
So they trusted each other when they were apart.
They had empathy for others, so they could never say or do something to hurt the other,
Empathy made them love each other as an equal,
And so they were best friends.

A RABBITS LIFE ON A FARM
Your mind tells you that you need to go seek warmth,
But there is no warm place to go,
I am just stuck, vulnerable in this wire cage,
There is no box able to keep an adequate amount of body heat in, and there is no heat source to warm me,
My coat is not thick like a wild rabbit,
It is far from it,
I just sit hunched up, constantly, my muscles are tensed up so much that they get sore and tired,
I can lay with my legs under me to try to keep them warm, but all there is is open wire underneath me,
There are 11 whole hours of the night’s miserable cold to endure,
And 13 hours of day that is not as extreme, but still cold, to endure the whole next day,
And the process repeats,
And each miserable hour turns into days which turns into months, like this,
I just want some relief for my body,
Sometimes I just want to escape my body,
I am tired of life,
I am just tired,
‘Cause it’s hard to sleep when you feel so cold and vulnerable,
And I cannot sleep away my boring days to try to make them go by faster.
For a person to just walk outside for a few minutes to feed me, they aren’t truly feeling what the weather is like,
But if they were to stand out here for an hour or two, they’d feel what the weather does to your body, and they would understand to an extent.
I wish someone would take me in their arms, love me and take me into a warm place to stay with them, and make me feel like a have a family,
Make me feel alive again,
Like my life is worth living,
And I can run and be happy,
How amazing that would be.

A REASON
He was only 21 years old
Yet at times the world showed him so much pain, that he just stopped breathing, and he had to remember to take his next breath,
Sometimes the horrible things that happened to others just made him want to die,
The world was so hard to live in,
He felt like everyone had gone numb,
And so they hurt others, or just let it happen,
Most people around him were supporting pain and violence.
He was so bothered by what he had experienced already,
That he was afraid of what more life was going to show him.
In the nights he could not sleep, the images and pain of the past- the hurt of others ran through his head,
He felt like he should care what happened to them, because it only seemed right- no one else cared,
The one poignant similarity he could relate to with others was when a mother talked about losing her child and how she thought about how he died,
Thinking, “I wish I could have been there to stop it”,
This is the same thing he felt, but for the animals he never knew,
The compassion of a mother was something he could understand.
He wondered how similar people before him had endured a life with so many tragic events,
How could they go on with their life?
But he realized it was because they had no choice,
They HAD to keep going,
They didn’t die,
They needed to stay on earth so that they could try to do something to help others,
Because if all the people that had broken hearts died, then there would be no one left to care enough to change the world’s situations.

BIRDS THAT CAN'T FLY
A bird that can't fly,
Sits in a miniature cage,
On a perch, and looks through the silver wires,
This small space is his entire world, nothing beyond it,
And it stays the same everyday, nothing ever changes,
Every little detail has already been explored, a long time ago,
On the first few days of the beginning of this "life".
What do you do when your world is about a foot wide?
Climb on the wires and then hop onto the other wires?
Call for someone because it's so insane,
Pull my feathers out,
I can hardly explain how this sadness feels,
It's deeper than just sadness.
I am getting by, by hours upon hours, of days, of months, of years now, I've been living like this,
Getting by for what?
Hope?
But there has been no question of letting him out of his cage,
The owner goes about living her busy life,
Where all her interests are at her fingertips,
So it's hard for her to know what its like for him.
If only someone could go into their mind for just a moment,
And then they would suddenly feel all of their feelings,
And know there is much more than what their face could tell,
And words could not amount,
Because then they would know what its like,
And know that if they used to pretend that the bird is happy, they can no longer pretend,
Realizing it was easy to because birds are not able to say otherwise.
Finches sit in miniature cages, locked in until the day they die,
And they're life has been wasted,
Because no one could comprehend how sad and boring their life could be.
What they ache for can't be satisfied by toys or perches,
They want the simple thrill and joy of being alive,
being beyond wired containment,
Beyond insanity or depression,
They just want to feel free,
And see everything new again,
Like life is now worth living,
And it can be beautiful.

CHILD THOUGHTS
Adult thoughts sometimes seem irrational or silly,
Child thoughts don’t.
If we had child thoughts,
We would not base who we love on;
Politics,
Religion,
Morals,
Mean-spiritedness,
We would just love unconditionally and openly,
And see the simpler things in life, the beautiful, the eye-catching things,
We would stop and notice things like the design of the white clouds in the sky,
And we would run outside when there are raining clouds to play under,
We would cherish the gifts of nature we found,
And notice other lives, like the sparrows in the café patio that hop around looking for scraps of food,
And we would be happy to toss food for them,
We would bring home the stray animals from the streets and love them and keep them, ‘cause we would see that they are special,
We would help out other people who don’t have as much, and do it without complaint.
Hope would not be faded,
It would be stable,
And we would imagine what we could do to help the world and the planet,
Our money would not be wasted on fancy cars and mansions,
We would give our money just to see the joy in all the other’s grateful faces.
If we had child thoughts,
We wouldn’t listen to all those messages from society trying to tell us how and who we should be,
‘Cause it just wouldn’t be important,
We would just be,
We would be ourselves,
And if we were all like that
Then there would be no “weird” or “normal” because we would all be perfectly different.
Child thoughts are not silly,
They aren’t unrealistic either,
They are wise and very realistic,
It is about living life, and being full of life,
Child thoughts are inspiration,
It is what the world really needs.

DOES THIS HAVE TO BE?
Can we not embrace?, your race in my race, your acceptance in mine?
Will we judge someone because someone else had lied before?
-Can there be hope if hope is not given?
Is there the innocence to love openly,
Can we still feel free and playful like a child or animal does?
Is there a care about animal's feelings though there is no voice?
Through all this;
Do we have to be afraid of being accused or talked about?
We hear people say, "Oh, that's not realistic",
"Look at that freak",
"That man must be sick",
"That's what they all say",
"Look at those crazy animal rights activists",
"I wonder about him",
"Look at him doing her a favor, he must have alternative motives",
Innocent people are being judged, and they are slowly being robbed,
Robbed to where they will not do as much good,
And the same thing happens to us.
Maybe if people started accepting people as they truly are,
There wouldn't be as much hidden,
And our souls would open up, and we would feel more.
Maybe if we were to do the things we want anyway,
Block out what the world thinks at the moment,
And just be in the moment,
Maybe one day it passes along,
And inspires,
Because they see how beautiful it can be,
And then more people become like the example,
They will forget about the negative thoughts,
And it soon starts to become not so strange or foreign,
And hope and love, peace and innocence, and life itself will become a voice that we are eager to tell each other,
And it all becomes stronger.

FACTUAL REACTIONS
When people ignore problems
It doesn’t make the problems any less serious
In ignoring problems
We give money to companies who make a horrible life for others
Ignoring problems
Feeds the torturing of animals
Ignoring problems
Makes the world a much sadder place to be in
And ignoring problems
Causes each other more tears and heartbreak,
Or numbing hearts that continue the cycle of leaving more pain in others.

FACTUAL REACTIONS II
Listening and learning
Will make us aware of what needs to change
Listening and learning
Will open our hearts to others
Listening and learning
Will cause us to research
Listening and learning
Will cause us to do things to try to stop the pain,
Listening and learning
Will cause us to share the information,
And listening and learning
Will cause us to work together,
So it makes a bigger impact
Listening and learning
Will cause peace to reach out
And happiness to replace all the broken bones and hearts,
And it can change everything.

HER PET HAS PASSED AWAY
The sun's in her eyes,
But she's not focusing on the sun,
God is above her waiting,
But she's not hearing his whisper,
When the wind blows,
She no longer feels it,
And when she walks to the park and the children laugh and play,
She does not understand it,
She is so deep in pain.
Though she's sad,
I wish that,
When the sun reaches to her,
She would look up to the sun,
And when God is there waiting,
She would call his name,
Then maybe she would come to realize. ..
That maybe as she faced the sun, as they are both standing under a sun,
She would start to feel it,
And she would feel the warmth as her friend is.
They are under the same beauty of the sun,
And they are hearing the same whisper from God,
And feeling the same love for each other.

HE QUESTIONED
He started to question everything,
What he was taught and raised to believe,
And questioned what society said,
He questioned the disposing of lives,
He questioned the negative thoughts,
And thought things through,
He questioned the things people gossiped about,
And questioned the media's words.
He began to question the fear of vulnerability,
The shielding of ourselves from love,
He questioned the typical dreams,
He questioned the following of footsteps.
He began to have his own ideas,
He began to think with his heart and not his head.
He began to learn so much more than he had ever knew of before.

HE WAS THERE
On the edge of society is where he felt like he was,
Alone,
Though the thoughts of everyone was around him,
And he was really in the middle of it.
He believed not in a narrow dream,
But more in what we could do to turn around things that needed to be,
His expression was courageous, and he knew it was not outrageous,
For him to speak his mind, he had bared his fragile heart,
And found love simply,
Not expecting anything back,
He lived finding the beautiful joys that were born into his soul long ago.
He thought deeper in an instant glance,
And he was somewhere else,
He dreamed like there were answers to the problematic issues,
Sometimes when looking up to the sky,
And he saw the colors of the sky, and saw it as an amazing painting of the moment,
He saw the rain as a beautiful hue, mirroring the surroundings in its shower.
He shared simple luxuries with the desperate,
Not only to see their hope answered, but to try to heal his own breaking heart.
His compassion fueled his strength.
He believed in more than what meets the eye, ‘cause he believed what he felt,
He had the open-mindedness of a child,
But the wisdom to be careful of what to believe.
Though he often felt out of place,
He knew there were reasons he was suppose to be there.

I AM FLESH AND BLOOD
I am in the middle of four wire walls,
Enclosed,
To live here all my days,
I am outside at the mercy of weather,
No place to stay warm when it's cold,
So I am vulnerable,
And constantly cold to the core,
And it's so uncomfortable,
I long to ease this feeling I've had for so long.
They only come by to simply place food into my bowl,
And then close the door,
And I am so lonely,
I long for companionship,
Just something,
'Cause my life seems so empty,
I don't even have something to keep my mind busy,
There is nothing,
I want so much just to run through the grass and stretch my legs,
Just for a moment of freedom and joy I'd do anything,
But all of these things I cannot have,
And it hurts my soul,
It aches,
That I have nothing and noone.
I am a rabbit in a cage,
And all I want is love.

IF I WAS ABLE TO EXPLAIN HOW I FEEL
(This is how most major egg farmers keep chickens)
I am in a cage that is a little bigger than my body,
With just a small hole for my head to stick out,
I am one of the hundreds among the rows of shelved cages,
As if I am merely an object,
And nothing else.
All day I hear the constant outcry of the other chicken's frustration and the clang of metal,
From everything combined the noise is very loud and fills this huge warehouse,
It only quiets down at night,
In the pitch blackness of the building,
It has been months since I have even seen the light of day or felt the wind reach me,
All I see is the constance of those florescent lights that line across the warehouse ceiling,
And all I feel is the wire beneath my feet,
It has been weeks since I have even been let out of this cage and put into a small pen for a few minutes,
And it frightens me when they carry me cause they are not gentle one bit.
There is no joy in my life, I can't even move,
Basically every necessity has been taken away besides food and water,
And that is the same everyday.
I have nothing,
And all I want is the basic, simple joys of life,
To make my spirit come alive again.

IN THE LIGHT OF LOVE
Unbound and unbroken,
She is in the light of love,
And it is the purest light,
There is no judgments or assumptions of other people anymore,
'Cause it does not matter to her,
So all the windows are open in her world,
Letting in the knowledge and inspiration from the lives that cross her way,
And those pieces cause her life to unfurl continuously into different ways and opportunities,
Along the way, seeing signs from heaven that remind her what she must continue to do.

IF A CALF COULD TELL HIS STORY
So far, you’re the only one on earth that wants me to show you the story of my life;
I was born on a dairy farm, and stayed in a small stall with my mother. She nurtured me and loved me, I felt safe with her always next to me. I was only allowed to stay one day with her. The next day I was sold to another farm to be “veal”, like many calves born on dairy farms. Men came in our stall and they pulled me out the gate and away from my mother. She was frantic and cried for me, she ran back and forth against the gate. But she could not get through. I cried as loud as I could as the people jerked me away by my face. I have recently found out that my mother had cried for weeks for me after I had left. I was then pulled by rope by a man and put in a truck with other cows that I did not know. I did not know what was happening or where I was going. I arrived at a building that looked unfamiliar. I was taken down a hallway. Then they pulled me into a crate and they chained my ankles down. They turned the lights out. There I was kept in the crate in darkness, the walls of the crate at my sides so that I could not move my body. When I tried to lay down, I could not lay down in a normal position, so to lay down was uncomfortable. I became thirsty, but I was never given any water my whole life, so to try to satisfy my thirst I drank the milk formula specially made to keep me anemic. On top of that, I felt sick a lot because I had an intestinal disease that was not treated. I felt like I had no one to turn to, no one who would treat me decent, no one to love me. I felt lost and out of place. I was not allowed to move for nine weeks- my whole life. Every hour was horrible. It was the most boring, insane thing I have ever experienced. Eventually, after a long time of not getting any response with my cries, I stopped crying. My soul was shattered and I was depressed beyond explanation. After nine weeks, I was shot in the head.
I never really felt like I knew what it was like to have a life on earth. I didn’t know what it would be like to have friends to romp around with. All I knew of was my loving, precious mother. How I missed her when I was there. But now that I am here in heaven I am with her again, in her loving sight. I now understand that those people did not truly know what they were doing to me. They did not want to acknowledge our feelings, they had a lot to learn. A person here told me this. How wonderful the people are here. I had no idea they could be so loving. When I was there, I could never understand why people treated us like they did, when we did nothing mean to them. If they would have been nice to me and my mother, I would have loved them and given them kisses. They could have been a friend.
I wish for peace for the others like me. And I have learned to forgive the people that did that to me.

This story is based on modern day facts. The mothers are killed when they are no longer able to have babies. Go to www.HFA.org for veal facts or http://www.goveg.com/feat/hiddenlivesofcows/knowhow.asp it talks about how cows are intelligent and emotional animals.
To help- boycott veal and don’t buy milk.

IMAGINE REALITY
Imagine that you are put into a white, empty room that is 4’ x 4’ wide,
And all there is, is you, a cup of water, and a piece of bread,
Those two objects are the only objects in your room- the only things you can touch.
Those two things will become your only daily source of nourishment.
Now imagine that the white walls turn into wire walls.
It’s been decided that you are never going to be allowed out of your small wire room,
Everyday you will be there,
And everyday, even though it wasn’t planned this way, nothing will change about your room, and it will look the same.
The first day of your stay goes by,
And you’ve had your first taste of your new “life”,
You feel so sick of being in the same spot and having nothing to do, you feel like you are going crazy,
There is nothing you can do to leave, despite all your frustration,
So you just decide to try to sleep your boring hours away.
The first day has slowly turned into the second day,
And you feel like you can’t take it anymore, you don’t know what to do with your hours everyday all day, despite trying to sleep- sleep just doesn’t cut it,
But you can’t get out, your emotions are just futile.
It has been a long time, well, it seems like forever and you have nothing new to look at or touch,
When you look through the wires at the simple objects, they are things you long to touch, in fact you visualize touching them, because you are so tired and bored of your life.
It’s been days and you can’t even move around to get some sort of exercise
To get your heart rate up and not feel so dead,
To get some small bit of entertainment by moving and to make your body feel better,
Your space is so small that you can only take a couple steps,
You feel like your going insane, you cant take it, you just want to sleep your life away to stop focusing on how much you want out and how much it’s frustrating you,
Because no one is letting you out no matter how much you want it.
After a couple weeks, your hope is entirely dead,
There is nothing more you can do,
But you still make an effort to look through the wire to see some sort of life,
But you are so, so depressed you could never totally describe it to anyone,
It’s like all the life you once had has been drained entirely out of you,
And part of it is that the surroundings in your room are so bland, it’s like it’s not even there,
You don’t even see it,
You don’t even think about it because it’s all the same,
It’s like your “life” has been reduced to a grey area,
Something in waiting,
Something that’s dead,
It’s like trying to be comfortably depressed so that you don’t hope for freedom which you know never comes,
It’s like your life is just asleep,
But unfortunately awake,
Insanely contained and depressed, and your body is weak,
It’s like your spirit has been killed,
And everyday is the longest day in the whole world,
And you are the loneliest person in the whole world.
It’s like the “life” that a rabbit has.

I WISH
I wish people could see how valuable life is for everyone,
And how animals can live their lives happy everyday,
Maybe people have lost their own joy or feeling of purpose,
So they don’t see how important it is.
The value of an animal’s life can only be based on their own happiness-
Not how “smart” they are compared to humans,
Not their size,
Not their lifestyle,
They just feel like they have a reason to wake up and get up everyday, and they know there is something for them,
They get a thrill,
They are free spirits,
Not chained like we often are by how society tells us to be,
Animals are so completely innocent in that way,
That we can learn from how they are,
(How we used to be)
Or just admire their playfulness for their life, for us to get back to life ourselves.
If people could see how valuable life is to everyone,
It would change everything,
There would be no more killing,
No more hunting or fishing,
No more slaughterhouses,
No more keeping animals in small cages,
No more animal testing,
No more mice being labeled “feeder mice”,
No more people causing suffering,
Humans would be peaceful to animals,
Learning to love them.

KIMIE
My cousin Kimie was 16 at the time,
She had just been at a party,
And was leaving with her friend who was driving the vehicle,
Then he accidentally drove through a red light,
Hitting a chip truck,
Kimie was thrown through the front window and killed instantly,
Because she was not wearing a seatbelt.
One simple little thing that she didn't do changed everything,
And everyone forever,
It would never be the same,
Like a nightmare you keep wanting to wake up from.
Now, she would have been about 39 years old,
And would have had hundreds of memories,
And stories to tell,
A life to live on earth,
With her family,
More than just a photo of mine;
With her long dark hair and she's looking down,
A teenager that has a lot of growing to do.
She would be a real flesh and blood woman to talk to.
This is not only another tragic story,
This is Kimie,
And this same incident could pertain to me,
Or to you someday,
When we're least expecting it,
But, I hope we could make better choices.

LOST AND FOUND
I feel I'm dug deep into a hole of pain,
Even though I know their happiness rises above white clouds,
And I am lost in thought, away from the world,
And I am found.
In the simple moments of imagination and a smile,
In the reflections of colors and light in the drops of beautiful rain,
There I am lost, away from the world,
And my soul has been found.
In the glow of the greenery when the sun is slightly hidden,
And when I look into the genuine eyes of a truly precious animal, looking for trust,
I am lost, in another place,
And there I am found.
When I am surprisingly reminded of the strength of the unseen souls,
And when my emotions are caught by a single precious flower, that looks like all the others to the untrained eye,
Those are times when I am lost, away from the world,
And brought back to life, because I am found there,
In a place I feel like I belong.

NOW IS THE TIME
Now is the time
We must turn and face what we have let happen,
And wipe away the fear,
In ourselves
And in animals,
We must end the suffering and torturing,
And stop the pouring of dollars to Hells of slaughterhouses,
To where they will shut down,
Along with the electric prods,
And the boiling water that the chickens die in,
The knives that slit rabbit’s throats,
The beak clippers,
The tiny cages for chickens,
The crates for calves,
The guns,
It has gone on for too long already- for millions of lives,
Now is a time that time doesn’t have to end,
Now is the time for the agony to stop,
And a peaceful heaven to begin and last,
And to see the beauty in it,
Now is our time that we must take responsibility,
Now is the time,
The time in which life was made for,
And peace can show it’s amazing beauty again,
It is just waiting for us to take the step.

ONE CHANCE
They have one chance to know sheer joy,
One chance to play and be free,
One chance to love truly,
And one chance to have a purpose,
There is one chance for us to truly see all this in their eyes,
We have one life, only one time to learn,
And they have only one life to live, and one time to show us innocence,
So there is no time for killing animals.

ONLY TO AN EXTENT
To an extent, I am the animal,
To an extent, I feel like I know,
What it's like to be locked in a cage,
All day with nothing to do,
It's saddening and depressing,
To an extent, I feel like I know how they suffer in different ways,
To an extent, I feel like I know what its like to suffocate,
To be put into a boa's cage and strangled to death,
I feel like I know the emotions of being hit by a car,
I feel like I know what it is like to be attacked and shaken,
I have felt the horror,
Only to an extent,
I feel like I know what it is like to be pained and teased,
How it feels to be the not-as-important one,
The one they look down to,
Or not even notice at all,
The one whose life got robbed,
Got taken much to soon,
Because no one cared to look to see that I have a soul,
As if the emotions in my eyes aren't even there,
When I wanted to cry out,
To be freed.
I can only understand these things to an extent,
And yet I am traumatized, even for that.
People may ask if I am depressed,
No, I am just sad,
Because it seems that most adults don't understand these things that are associated with animals,
Even a child will cry over the death of an animal,
And they couldn't even understand the serious pain of their death,
Children know life is precious,
They still know love.
The same sincere love that reached out to the animal's spirit,
When they reached heavens glory.
God never once ignored his beautiful creations.
At the first conceptions of them, he reached out and embraced them with love,
And then handed them over to us.

Plants and People
Trees look like they are reaching their branches up towards heaven,
Like a person dancing freely and reaching their arms up to the sky in the wind.
Flowers look like they reach delicately up to the sky, their face held upward taking in the sun,
Every single one is perfect and beautiful,
-Beautiful beside all the other different colored faces,
Complimenting each other,
Making the heaven they reach for, comedown and surround them on earth.

PRECIOUS
Precious;
Valuable beyond words,
Eternal,
Meant to live life,
Lives it to the fullest,
Lives with appreciation,
Genuine look in their eyes,
Meant to touch souls,
Meant to learn from,
Creates a beautiful aura,
Innocent, untouched by the world’s thoughts,
A lot more to learn,
Loved immensely by the spirit in heaven.

Meant to live life,
Hateful,
Raised from hateful parents,
Was never taught what is right,
Self-centered,
Mean-spirited,
Angry,
Blameful,
Cruel,
A lot more to learn,
Should be treated kind by us,
To show them compassion,
Because;
Loved immensely by the spirit in heaven.

Reminded
Today I heard a story about a little boy that found a sick kitten,
His dad went and picked her up and brought her home,
The family gave her baths and fed her and did a lot to try to save her,
But she died anyway.
Sometimes I think those things we did were to remind us of compassion,
To remind us of all the things that we sometimes forget about, when we get really busy thinking about other things,
Maybe there are experiences or others who come into our lives to show us,
Remind us of the things that bring us closer to life,
And sometimes they even bring us back to life;
Like imagination,
Love,
Nature,
Compassion,
Childhood,
Magic,
Strength,
And beauty,
There to wake us up again and experience what is really important and valuable.

SHE CONTINUED
She died a thousand deaths,
Of others,
She cried a thousand tears.
But she felt other's sheer joy,
And laughed among them,
Even despite the tragedies,
She continued to see so much beauty in other things,
In so many things,
In every detail,
From the sky to the fields,
Everything in between,
She saw it all through her own vision she created,
She saw the world how SHE needed to see it.
And through all of this,
Although she cried a thousand tears,
She continued to love so many it was to many to count,
And empathy was part of her love.
She was able to continue through life.

SECOND CHANCE
Sometimes people that work at humane societies say that euthanasia is the best thing for an animal that has had a life where they were unwanted,
Sometimes I think though that they say that to make themselves feel better about it happening so much.
Personally, I think that finding a good home for them is the best thing,
So they can be able to experience something good on this earth before they die,
They need a second chance,
Not a wasted first chance,
Because everyone deserves to have a good life that they can enjoy.

THAT HAMBURGER ON THE PLATE
He was an animal soul,
Precious enough to have a name,
A special soul and personality in the eyes of God,
A beautiful example of creation.
But he lived a life of containment by walls,
No pasture, no sunshine, no wind,
Just kept in a building,
Appallingly crowded, stressful, and packed in,
There was no room for a normal social life, no chance for friendship,
Just the hollering of people, raising their hands, causing fear,
And eventually raising his gun to this precious soul’s face,
With his beautiful soft eyes,
He looked around wondering what he was doing there,
In the last minutes of his life, everything, his whole chance was being thrown away,
The chance at having a life worth living for,
But this life hardly counted, because this chance was just miserable,
Tell me why this happened to him,
There really are no excuses.
He would have been a true example of the appreciation of life.

This is how most cows live out their lives, big companies don't allow them to be in a field.

THANK YOU
First of all, God thank you for inspiring peace, unconditional love, purpose, and compassion.
Thank you for the moments of heaven on earth,
It makes us want more, and strive for more here,
Thank you for showing the example of our responsibility.
Thank you for sending those certain people or animals into our lives that impact us, teach us, and who help us to carry on,
And stay grounded.
Thank you for the clear example in children and animals,
That we need to be more like you,
Sincere, and loving, and innocent,
And that we need to enjoy life,
And remember to have fun.
Thank you that everything there is to know is not completely obvious,
It takes learning and finding new paths,
And believing,
So that it is a beautiful journey,
Where we never stop finding out new things.
Thank you for always listening to our prayers,
And thank you for the times I know someone answered them,
And for all the times there were miracles that I never knew happened.
Thank you for the beautiful gifts of nature,
That if we pay attention to, can help us feel alive again,
If we ever get lost.
Even those times that broke my heart,
And make me cry,
I should probably say thank you for,
Because you must have known that letting that happen was the best thing.
Thank you for always bringing my family and my pets to a beautiful amazing place when their body dies,
Thank you for the signs that they have gotten there and are ok,
Thank you for passing along the messages I have for them.
Thank you for giving me a life on earth so that I can help others,
People and animals,
So they can experience and enjoy all the wonderful things you have given us.

TOGETHER
Together we can be like the sunset,
In a child’s eyes,
We can be like the flaxen field that is dancing in the light,
Together, we can be like the clouds at night that have an inner light, that stays bright in the darkness of the world,
We can be like a delicate flower of beauty, sensitive to every touch and energy,
We can be the desire to see life this way,
And feel it deep in emotions,
As if all of this is felt as one,
And we are a part.

THEY ARE LOOKING TO US
As a farmer walks by, a rabbit watches, looking through the wires on a cold winter evening,
Words couldn’t say how much she wants freedom and comfort from this harsh weather,
Her body is trembling.
A chicken’s eyes follow the man as he walks by her cramped cage,
For she knows that he is the one with the power, the control, and she is so achingly desperate,
She is looking to him.
A cat reaches through the bars at a humane society,
Time is dwindling,
Two hours out of her three days are left,
She is so desperate,
She is looking to anyone.
The chaos of the packed and cramped slaughterhouse has worn this cow down,
You can see it in his eyes,
From the kicking, the biting, because of the unnatural and stressful environment,
And he looks to the farmers for his salvation,
But he knows from them there is no kindness, no gentle touch.
They are looking to us,
To simply feel for them,
It is the only way there can be hope,
Without that, they might be left to die,
We are their salvation,
We are their voice,
We all can be pieces to the answer.
They are waiting for a life worth living,
Where life is no longer a dream anymore,
And a love they hadn’t known of is shown to exist.
We can be a part of their experiencing a newfound life.

This Thanksgiving
This Thanksgiving reminds me of broken lives, pain and suffering,
As the Hell-houses made for animals increases it’s production to sell to more buyers for this holiday season.
People will pay for someone that was made to give up their ENTIRE life for a couple meals,
Which will keep their stomach satisfied for a few hours,
In trade for a few hours, the turkey had to endure an entire horrible “life” where he was crowded, fearful, stressed, and gradually crippled by his own weight forced on him by injections,
His joints could not stay in place because of his weight, the pain was to much,
So he eventually gave up trying to walk and just fell to the ground,
Just laying there in the filth underneath the crowd,
As all the other turkeys walked on him and over him,
He just lay there suffering,
For way to long than anyone should ever have to endure,
Then later, eventually, he was picked up and thrown onto the conveyer,
The conveyer tossing him into an electrocution bath,
And while still fully conscious, but stunned paralyzed,
He was moved along towards the spinning blade that is suppose to cut their neck,
But instead it missed his neck and sliced his chest,
Still conscious as he falls into the boiling water of the defeathering tank,
Suffocating, boiling, and suffering to death.
This is what I think of at Thanksgiving time,
The story of the turkey’s “life” that is on the table,
A time to mourn,
That humans have taken ALL their joy away from them,
So they don’t ever get to experience a natural life.
He died troubled, scared, and tortured
As his one chance for a life to enjoy was thrown away forever.

WE ARE THE FORTUNATE ONES
Unlike animals,
We have the right to not be locked in a small space,
We have the right to walk outside and breathe in fresh air,
We have the right not to be tortured to death in a slaughterhouse,
We have the right to be heard,
And to have concern when we are hurt,
We have the right to be treated decently,
We have the right to have normal, stress-free, healthy lives.
We are the fortunate ones,
So we have the responsibility to try to help the ones who have no rights,
Our opinions and actions count, it’s not pointless,
It will spread awareness and hope,
Which makes our answers closer within reach.

WHEN A FLOWER DIES, A FLOWER BLOOMS
When a flower dies,
A flower blooms,
Where it's seed fell, it grows in a new place.
When a flower dies,
As when we die, and our soul moves on,
It opens up and unfurls into something even more beautiful,
It opens to receive all the light of love,
Like a newborn child does,
Learning all that it has to show, it's causing life to unfurl continuously,
Always moving on,
And catching someone's eye with its beauty,
'Cause what it reflects is something deeper than words could tell.
It all started from the seed that was once dropped;
-The life that all of this grew from.

WHO TO BLAME
Sometimes people question why God allows so much corruption and pain,
But isn't it that people are the ones who are not doing enough?
God gave us the simple ability to create and to help others, but instead we spend our time building guns and bombs.
What about the starving children of the world,
If anything, it seems like it is the one thing that haunts people the most,
There IS enough food in the world to feed them all,
But people are not doing enough to change things as a whole,
They're just greedy or careless,
And why is it that starving people keep adding to the population by having children who will starve,
Is it their own stupidity or are we not allowing them
to be educated enough?
And if they are living in the US, (and not another country) then babies that are unwanted are often being
aborted if possible,
Giving up a life that could have been what they were meant to be,
Paying for someone's mistake.
What about all the unwanted pets who are euthenized in "humane" societies when they have the whole rest of
their lives to live,
Why is no one looking into their eyes and seeing how valuable their life is? And seeing what really needs
to be done?
People have the power to solve the problem of overpopulation, but they don't.
Also, there are the many people who only buy pets from breeders,
Breeders who keep selling more and more animals,
Meanwhile unwanted pets elsewhere are being euthenized because of their customers buying from them.
Why is it that people still continue to buy meat?
Is it because they don't want to know the horrid life and death of these animals?
Or do they just choose to think their life is invaluable?
And why is it still legal that most major egg farmers
are allowed to keep chickens in cages the size of their body with their head sticking out a hole,
People don't have empathy,
They choose not to see how a life like that has no joy in it,
Some people don't even have empathy for their own children,
The list goes on and on.
For all these things and all that is not mentioned,
There is really no excuse,
So,
Why isn't the human race as a whole working together?
Is it easier to just accept the misfortune, or turn away, or do more damage?
It is something I don't have the answer for.
God gave us the mind and intelligence to do something positive,
But I can see that the human race has other intentions elsewhere,
In the corrupt and painful society they let be.

WHAT IS RIGHT NOW
What if instead of cats and dogs,
Cows and chickens were the most common and favorite pet,
And because everyone had them, everyone saw their individual personalities,
And loved them as they are,
And cared for them,
So then no one would think it was ethical to eat cows or chickens,
Because we all appreciated them as the family pet,
And at any news of abuse or murder, people would be up in arms,
People would become their voice,
There would be rights for cows and chickens and punishment for abuse.
Though in the real world cows and chickens are NOT the typical pet,
And people aren’t appreciating them,
It does not make their lives any less valuable,
And it doesn’t make their quality of life any less important,
Most of us just haven’t had the pleasure of seeing their true personalities;
Their intelligence, gentleness, and love.

Have you ever been touched by something so beautiful, it brings you back to life?
Like the emotions and thoughts in a certain precious song,
Or to read a book that had a specific message for you,
Or to stop and notice the planet’s amazing beauty that is everywhere,
Or to be in the presence of love and light, seeing the precious face of an animal looking to you,
Or to see the dream that had come true that compassionate people had done,
Have you ever seen something so beautiful, it makes you want to cry?
It brought me back to beauty and light,
A place where I belong.

Some people say that certain animals are “not smart” and that is how they justify taking their life,
But every creature could be considered “smart” for the lifestyle they were built for,
Of course, they have no need to be able to do math problems,
What does our society consider valuable?
Only educated people perhaps?
What about other people who are not as “smart” as them?- like mentally challenged people, people with learning disabilities, like me, or elderly people with dementia that are left at nursing homes,
So does that mean WE are not as important to society?
And they say- “What about the animal’s lifestyle?
It’s so different,
What’s their purpose anyway?”
Because they see it how their own society sees the others-
Dirty, not contributing to society, being a nuisance,
But the fact is, we were all made for our own different lifestyles- animal or human,
So that is why each of us finds joy in our own place,
And all of our different ways of life are overlapping,- contributing to each other,
Benefiting each other,
Especially if we can try to understand how valuable each of their lives is to them,
That will bring us the greatest joy and lessons to unfold throughout life.

The Black Mouse
When the man put the little black mouse in his snake’s tank
He saw her as “just a rodent”,
He never saw the strain in her eyes when she was dieing,
Maybe because he never had the chance to see her personality, (like his own pets)
And see how precious she really was, and how valuable her life was to her.
If she had her chance at life, she would have been happy everyday of her life,
And appreciated life and played everyday,
Her personality was not like anyone else’s,
Because all the mice are unique with special personalities.
If he would have stepped into empathy
He would not see her as “just a rodent”,
He would see that in suffering he is equal,
And he would then know how important her life was to her,
And how horrifying and unnatural this death would be,
Like when christians were put in the roman colliseum,
Through empathy, it would show him what is right,
And then maybe he would have stopped the nightmare from happening, and let her live her life she was meant to live.
Why was her life wasted?
Along with all the other’s at the pet store,
All they had was each other,
Nothing ever to do or climb on,
Some lived their stunted lives sick because no one cared to help them because the people knew they were going to be killed,
And the mice didn’t ever have anything to distract them from the pain of their illnesses,
They didn’t know what to do with their hours of their life everyday,
All they could do was wait for a life,
A life full of entertaining things to do, to look at, and play on and explore,
Something more than an empty glass tank,
That is what they wanted.
She never had her chance,
It was stolen, her one chance at life,
It was ALL taken away way to soon,
And ended through horror, pain, and suffering.

To the people I've met that are working for animal rights:
Delicate and hidden, you are like flowers that are blooming amongst the world’s chaos and piles of pain,
You are the ones who have chosen to not become numb, and not lose innocence,
You are the ones whom I wondered for so long if you even existed,
And now I can release my thoughts I have longed to, because you understand perfectly,
No cruel words will be tossed back,
You are streaming drops of hope within my tears,
In my sadness and my joy,
You are the rare souls of light that are fighting, trying to save the beauty in others that it seems only you see,
You are the ones who are making a difference,
And all the “thank you” you need is the silent, pure joy they show when they get to have a life and be treated without pain.
If anything, you are the ones who will keep this world from entirely collapsing,
As you bloom and grow amongst the world of chaos and piles of pain.
With love,
Molly

If you look up to the rain in a night sky,
And see the part where it is visible by a light,
All the drops absorb the light and the color of it,
And you watch them all traveling down from high above,
It is really beautiful.

They are often after you,
Trying to plague you,
For simple reasons;
-'Cause of your hope,
-Your love,
-Your sympathy,
All that has created a rare and beautiful light,
That is simple,
And it shows as you were fighting for some peace in the aching lives,
Simply doing what your heart longs for.
Whatever happens,
Don't let the angry tear you down,
Just keep standing tall,
Even if you feel like crying sometimes,
And we can keep fighting this battle,
Together,
Along with the ones we've met along the way,
And we will be stronger as one,
And so will love.

To reach out love to one who we may never see again,
In a way it is like the take off of a beautiful dove,

But they are all eternal and will never fade.

If we had child thoughts,
We would not base who we love on;
Politics,
Religion,
Morals,
Mean-spiritedness,
We would just love unconditionally and openly,
And see the simpler things in life, the beautiful, the eye-catching things,
We would stop and notice things like the design of the white clouds in the sky,
And we would run outside when there are raining clouds to play under,
We would cherish the gifts of nature we found,
And notice other lives, like the sparrows in the café patio that hop around looking for scraps of food,
And we would be happy to toss food for them,
We would bring home the stray animals from the streets and love them and keep them, ‘cause we would see that they are special,
We would help out other people who don’t have as much, and do it without complaint.
Hope would not be faded,
It would be stable,
And we would imagine what we could do to help the world and the planet,
Our money would not be wasted on fancy cars and mansions,
We would give our money just to see the joy in all the other’s grateful faces.
If we had child thoughts,
We wouldn’t listen to all those messages from society trying to tell us how and who we should be,
‘Cause it just wouldn’t be important,
We would just be,
We would be ourselves,
And if we were all like that
Then there would be no “weird” or “normal” because we would all be perfectly different.
Child thoughts are not silly,
They aren’t unrealistic either,
They are wise and very realistic,
It is about living life, and being full of life,
Child thoughts are inspiration,
It is what the world really needs.

DOES THIS HAVE TO BE?
Can we not embrace?, your race in my race, your acceptance in mine?
Will we judge someone because someone else had lied before?
-Can there be hope if hope is not given?
Is there the innocence to love openly,
Can we still feel free and playful like a child or animal does?
Is there a care about animal's feelings though there is no voice?
Through all this;
Do we have to be afraid of being accused or talked about?
We hear people say, "Oh, that's not realistic",
"Look at that freak",
"That man must be sick",
"That's what they all say",
"Look at those crazy animal rights activists",
"I wonder about him",
"Look at him doing her a favor, he must have alternative motives",
Innocent people are being judged, and they are slowly being robbed,
Robbed to where they will not do as much good,
And the same thing happens to us.
Maybe if people started accepting people as they truly are,
There wouldn't be as much hidden,
And our souls would open up, and we would feel more.
Maybe if we were to do the things we want anyway,
Block out what the world thinks at the moment,
And just be in the moment,
Maybe one day it passes along,
And inspires,
Because they see how beautiful it can be,
And then more people become like the example,
They will forget about the negative thoughts,
And it soon starts to become not so strange or foreign,
And hope and love, peace and innocence, and life itself will become a voice that we are eager to tell each other,
And it all becomes stronger.

FACTUAL REACTIONS
When people ignore problems
It doesn’t make the problems any less serious
In ignoring problems
We give money to companies who make a horrible life for others
Ignoring problems
Feeds the torturing of animals
Ignoring problems
Makes the world a much sadder place to be in
And ignoring problems
Causes each other more tears and heartbreak,
Or numbing hearts that continue the cycle of leaving more pain in others.

Listening and learning
Will make us aware of what needs to change
Listening and learning
Will open our hearts to others
Listening and learning
Will cause us to research
Listening and learning
Will cause us to do things to try to stop the pain,
Listening and learning
Will cause us to share the information,
And listening and learning
Will cause us to work together,
So it makes a bigger impact
Listening and learning
Will cause peace to reach out
And happiness to replace all the broken bones and hearts,
And it can change everything.

HER PET HAS PASSED AWAY
The sun's in her eyes,
But she's not focusing on the sun,
God is above her waiting,
But she's not hearing his whisper,
When the wind blows,
She no longer feels it,
And when she walks to the park and the children laugh and play,
She does not understand it,
She is so deep in pain.
Though she's sad,
I wish that,
When the sun reaches to her,
She would look up to the sun,
And when God is there waiting,
She would call his name,
Then maybe she would come to realize. ..
That maybe as she faced the sun, as they are both standing under a sun,
She would start to feel it,
And she would feel the warmth as her friend is.
They are under the same beauty of the sun,
And they are hearing the same whisper from God,
And feeling the same love for each other.

HE QUESTIONED
He started to question everything,
What he was taught and raised to believe,
And questioned what society said,
He questioned the disposing of lives,
He questioned the negative thoughts,
And thought things through,
He questioned the things people gossiped about,
And questioned the media's words.
He began to question the fear of vulnerability,
The shielding of ourselves from love,
He questioned the typical dreams,
He questioned the following of footsteps.
He began to have his own ideas,
He began to think with his heart and not his head.
He began to learn so much more than he had ever knew of before.

HE WAS THERE
On the edge of society is where he felt like he was,
Alone,
Though the thoughts of everyone was around him,
And he was really in the middle of it.
He believed not in a narrow dream,
But more in what we could do to turn around things that needed to be,
His expression was courageous, and he knew it was not outrageous,
For him to speak his mind, he had bared his fragile heart,
And found love simply,
Not expecting anything back,
He lived finding the beautiful joys that were born into his soul long ago.
He thought deeper in an instant glance,
And he was somewhere else,
He dreamed like there were answers to the problematic issues,
Sometimes when looking up to the sky,
And he saw the colors of the sky, and saw it as an amazing painting of the moment,
He saw the rain as a beautiful hue, mirroring the surroundings in its shower.
He shared simple luxuries with the desperate,
Not only to see their hope answered, but to try to heal his own breaking heart.
His compassion fueled his strength.
He believed in more than what meets the eye, ‘cause he believed what he felt,
He had the open-mindedness of a child,
But the wisdom to be careful of what to believe.
Though he often felt out of place,
He knew there were reasons he was suppose to be there.

I AM FLESH AND BLOOD
I am in the middle of four wire walls,
Enclosed,
To live here all my days,
I am outside at the mercy of weather,
No place to stay warm when it's cold,
So I am vulnerable,
And constantly cold to the core,
And it's so uncomfortable,
I long to ease this feeling I've had for so long.
They only come by to simply place food into my bowl,
And then close the door,
And I am so lonely,
I long for companionship,
Just something,
'Cause my life seems so empty,
I don't even have something to keep my mind busy,
There is nothing,
I want so much just to run through the grass and stretch my legs,
Just for a moment of freedom and joy I'd do anything,
But all of these things I cannot have,
And it hurts my soul,
It aches,
That I have nothing and noone.
I am a rabbit in a cage,
And all I want is love.

IF I WAS ABLE TO EXPLAIN HOW I FEEL
(This is how most major egg farmers keep chickens)
I am in a cage that is a little bigger than my body,
With just a small hole for my head to stick out,
I am one of the hundreds among the rows of shelved cages,
As if I am merely an object,
And nothing else.
All day I hear the constant outcry of the other chicken's frustration and the clang of metal,
From everything combined the noise is very loud and fills this huge warehouse,
It only quiets down at night,
In the pitch blackness of the building,
It has been months since I have even seen the light of day or felt the wind reach me,
All I see is the constance of those florescent lights that line across the warehouse ceiling,
And all I feel is the wire beneath my feet,
It has been weeks since I have even been let out of this cage and put into a small pen for a few minutes,
And it frightens me when they carry me cause they are not gentle one bit.
There is no joy in my life, I can't even move,
Basically every necessity has been taken away besides food and water,
And that is the same everyday.
I have nothing,
And all I want is the basic, simple joys of life,
To make my spirit come alive again.

IN THE LIGHT OF LOVE
Unbound and unbroken,
She is in the light of love,
And it is the purest light,
There is no judgments or assumptions of other people anymore,
'Cause it does not matter to her,
So all the windows are open in her world,
Letting in the knowledge and inspiration from the lives that cross her way,
And those pieces cause her life to unfurl continuously into different ways and opportunities,
Along the way, seeing signs from heaven that remind her what she must continue to do.

IF A CALF COULD TELL HIS STORY
So far, you’re the only one on earth that wants me to show you the story of my life;
I was born on a dairy farm, and stayed in a small stall with my mother.

Now, she would have been about 39 years old,
And would have had hundreds of memories,
And stories to tell,
A life to live on earth,
With her family,
More than just a photo of mine;

PRECIOUS
Precious;
Valuable beyond words,
Eternal,
Meant to live life,
Lives it to the fullest,
Lives with appreciation,
Genuine look in their eyes,
Meant to touch souls,
Meant to learn from,
Creates a beautiful aura,
Innocent, untouched by the world’s thoughts,
A lot more to learn,
Loved immensely by the spirit in heaven.
Precious;
Valuable beyond words,
Eternal,
Meant to live life,
Hateful,
Raised from hateful parents,
Was never taught what is right,
Self-centered,
Mean-spirited,
Angry,
Blameful,
Cruel,
A lot more to learn,
Should be treated kind by us,
To show them compassion,
Because;
Loved immensely by the spirit in heaven.

Reminded
Today I heard a story about a little boy that found a sick kitten,
His dad went and picked her up and brought her home,
The family gave her baths and fed her and did a lot to try to save her,
But she died anyway.
Sometimes I think those things we did were to remind us of compassion,
To remind us of all the things that we sometimes forget about, when we get really busy thinking about other things,
Maybe there are experiences or others who come into our lives to show us,
Remind us of the things that bring us closer to life,
And sometimes they even bring us back to life;
Like imagination,
Love,
Nature,
Compassion,
Childhood,
Magic,
Strength,
And beauty,
There to wake us up again and experience what is really important and valuable.

*******************************************************************************************************************************
SHE CONTINUED
She died a thousand deaths,
Of others,
She cried a thousand tears.
But she felt other's sheer joy,
And laughed among them,
Even despite the tragedies,
She continued to see so much beauty in other things,
In so many things,
In every detail,
From the sky to the fields,
Everything in between,
She saw it all through her own vision she created,
She saw the world how SHE needed to see it.
And through all of this,
Although she cried a thousand tears,
She continued to love so many it was to many to count,
And empathy was part of her love.
She was able to continue through life.

SECOND CHANCE
Sometimes people that work at humane societies say that euthanasia is the best thing for an animal that has had a life where they were unwanted,
Sometimes I think though that they say that to make themselves feel better about it happening so much.
Personally, I think that finding a good home for them is the best thing,
So they can be able to experience something good on this earth before they die,
They need a second chance,
Not a wasted first chance,
Because everyone deserves to have a good life that they can enjoy.

THAT HAMBURGER ON THE PLATE
He was an animal soul,
Precious enough to have a name,
A special soul and personality in the eyes of God,
A beautiful example of creation.
But he lived a life of containment by walls,
No pasture, no sunshine, no wind,
Just kept in a building,
Appallingly crowded, stressful, and packed in,
There was no room for a normal social life, no chance for friendship,
Just the hollering of people, raising their hands, causing fear,
And eventually raising his gun to this precious soul’s face,
With his beautiful soft eyes,
He looked around wondering what he was doing there,
In the last minutes of his life, everything, his whole chance was being thrown away,
The chance at having a life worth living for,
But this life hardly counted, because this chance was just miserable,
Tell me why this happened to him,
There really are no excuses.
He would have been a true example of the appreciation of life.

THANK YOU
First of all, God thank you for inspiring peace, unconditional love, purpose, and compassion.

It all started from the seed that was once dropped;

Though in the real world cows and chickens are NOT the typical pet,
And people aren’t appreciating them,
It does not make their lives any less valuable,
And it doesn’t make their quality of life any less important,
Most of us just haven’t had the pleasure of seeing their true personalities;

People just don’t stop and notice rain like they notice snow,- on the rare occasion that is snows.

The sky’s every painting is so beautiful,
It’s precious like someone’s work of art is,
Created by their moment of passion,
To valuable to throw away.

They are often after you,
Trying to plague you,
For simple reasons;
-'Cause of your hope,
-Your love,
-Your sympathy,
All that has created a rare and beautiful light,
That is simple,
And it shows as you were fighting for some peace in the aching lives,
Simply doing what your heart longs for.
Whatever happens,
Don't let the angry tear you down,
Just keep standing tall,
Even if you feel like crying sometimes,
And we can keep fighting this battle,
Together,
Along with the ones we've met along the way,
And we will be stronger as one,
And so will love.

To reach out love to one who we may never see again,
In a way it is like the take off of a beautiful dove,
And you see the beauty in it for that moment.
It seems it is the only way that love can be,
Because so many precious souls will eventually go away,
But they are all eternal and will never fade.
